It is widely believed, by both Vegeta and Piccolo this deep-rooted strength comes both from his devotion to friends and family, combined with his Saiya-jin desire for a good challenge. Goku will seldom ever refuse a sparring match with something close to his strength, and even will lower his strength to match a weaker opponent for a battle of sheer skill. However part of Goku's naivety is very easy to notice, as he has had to have many otherwise common methods of life described to him first, and had even thought at first marriage was a type of food. However, when it comes to fighting, Goku is no bumpkin, and when the stakes are truly serious, he will throw the cheeriness aside for a much more serious side of himself, and will rarely endanger his friends recklessly. This especially seems to show when he uses his Super Saiya-jin 3 level, a level he has still yet to master completely to this day, and rarely shows to the other Misfits, unless out of necessity. He is also very forgiving of his former enemies, being the reason, Piccolo, Vegeta, #17, Mr. Buu, #18, and even now his brother Radditz are on his side as opposed to either being his enemies or dead. He absolutely hates not giving someone a second chance if he knows they can change their nature.
