Who has a Crush on Him?: None
Who hates him?: None
His Advantages: Likes taking a sneaky approach to battle when the
opportunity comes. He also rarely acts out of pure anger and thinks before
attacking more often than not.
His Disadvantages: Since he lacks a transformation, he doesn't usually get in too many hits, unless he has an anger flash.
His Likes: Harassing Virgil during training. Getting on Alex's nerves or
humbling him when he gets too arrogant.
Shadows. Coming up with new methods to train.
His Dislikes: Being among those who can't transform in any way. Alex when
he's on an arrogant power trip. Jason and Alex when they decide to go on a
taunting rampage.
His Fears: His help will fade away due to not having a transformation.
Hobbies: Fixing up and studying parts to cars.
Favorite Food[s]: Stuffed crust pizza and Macaroni salad.
Favorite Vehicle[s]: Damn near any kind of well balanced car with good
control.
Closest friend[s] in the Misfits: Vernon,
Dan,
Dwayne & Clint
Primary Motivation for Being a Misfit: Since he feels associated with the
lives of his friends, he feels a need to prove he can amount to something. Also,
the idea of doing good deeds appeals to him since he thinks he needs to bring
some form of personal honor to himself.
Quote: (to Clint about Alex) "Here he comes to wreck the day!"
Abilities: BukujutsuJAP, Saturday Crush, SoukidanJAP, Kamehameha,
DodompaJAP, Crescent Slasher, KaiokenJAP (x2)
Personality: Devin is mostly a serious individual compared with most
of the other original Misfits. His interests in cars and speed-racing games are
some of the few deviations from this usual attitude. Because of this usual
thought process, Devin tends to get annoyed often by Alex or Jason, both of
which are basically opposite of him, loving to act younger and more immature
than they probably should be, and this attitude also allows him to get along
with Clint, Vernon and Dan the best, as Clint tends to also keep a mostly
serious front, Dan tends to keep semi-polite and interested in developing his
skills, and Vernon and him are best friends from a long time back. However
another unique facet to Devin's personality is his devious and sneaky means of
fighting and having his own form of fun. A strategist by heart, Devin is
basically the polar opposite of Alex, rarely heading into battle without a plan
of some form, opposed to Alex, who usually runs in half-cocked and arrogant off
his ass. However even despite their differences and the large amount of
arguments between them, Alex and Devin are to some extent actual friends, as
both of them in a sense complement each other's skill with their own.
Biography: The Beginning of an Era:
Born in the same year as Clint, and exactly one day before Vernon, Devin's exact history is not extremely well
known to us as of yet. However one thing that is known is that his father
apparently walked out on him and his mother when he was young. Both Devin and
his mother do not feel any remorse at his departure, however due to this, money
has always been at least somewhat tight for his family. Another tidbit is that
he has a older half-sister who Devin has always called 'ever the slightest bit
tweaked', and he claims he could tell many colorful stories about her.
However what we do know other than this about Devin's past is the fact that
he met Vernon, Virgil and Alex in his early school years. Unfortunately he was
also introduced to Jackson McCarakins for the first time as well. For a couple
of years, Devin and Alex would butt heads at various subjects, Devin apparently
Alex's first major rival, while he would eventually become very good friends
with Vernon. When Jackson turned on Alex for revealing of his Cerebral Palsy,
Devin took it seriously and despite his rivalries with Alex, defended him at the
drop of a hat from Jackson's unnecessary insults, soon earning him a title as a
'freak-lover' by the now hateful kid.
As time passed, Devin eventually found his way into Canton South High School,
along with Vernon, and would soon meet Clint, having transferred to CSHS from
Timken High School. At first, Clint was cautious of both Devin and Vernon, but
soon Clint began to see some similarities between him and Devin, and these
similarities started to show up even more when they both found a common
annoyance in Alex, having joined CSHS the next year. Both Devin and Clint would
often team up in trying to get Alex to see things more than one way, however
Alex was as stubborn as ever. Despite this, all three were still to some extent
friends.
Soon towards the end of the year, Nina would find her way to CSHS, and meet
Devin and the others. Devin was perplexed, and slightly freaked out by Nina at
first, but he soon grew to be indifferent to her strange wings and height and
she grew on him as a good enough friend. Although he still teases Alex
occasionally about
whether or not Nina should've healed him, deep down he is glad Alex can now
truly defend his own honor from Jackson, who also transferred to CSHS the same
year as Alex and Nina, and whose hate had inflamed to even greater heights.
Soon though, Clint managed to win the Toonami contest, winning himself and
seven others a trip to Tokyo, Japan. Having a significant interest in anime and
other facets of Japanese culture, Devin accepted Clint's offer to be a
participant in the trip, and soon Devin would find he had volunteered to undergo
probably the biggest precursor of events to his future...
The Misfits:
Prologue and Saga 1:
In the Prologue, Devin merely listens to music on his headphones, while
snickering at Alex and Vernon's unlucky situation of being shrunken by Nina.
In Part 1, Devin goes with Clint, Alex, Jason and Vernon to Shonen Jump HQ to
meet Akira Toriyama. After some questions they are given a calling card and
specially made pictures of specific characters, Devin's being a picture of
Piccolo and Gohan it seems. Although initially bored to near-sleep by the
presentation on anime later that day, he finds himself in the company of Mr. Buu
after being drawn into the rifts made during the events of the merger. He also
appears to be witness to the first of many clues that their interpretation of
the Dragonball-universe might not as correct as they thought, after watching
Goku fight an unknown person in the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai where he was sent to.
After returning to Japan with Buu in tow via a second rift, he ends meeting
many of the other new additions to the Misfits. Later he is paired up with Buu
again in a hotel room in Part 2. Devin and Mr. Buu share an awkward moment when
some people staying in the room nearby are revealed to be making out on the
other side of the wall next to them. However no other real odd things occur that
night.
Devin and Buu, along with the other Misfits, new and old alike soon travel
back to Canton, however managed to unknowingly avoid a catastrophe at the hands
of Oyatsu, who's plan is ruined by the turbulent flight. They all safely arrive
in Canton and part for their homes for a short spell...
Saga 2:
In Part 3, Devin quickly learns how to bring out his latent ki. He also
learns how to use Bukujutsu[flight w/ ki], and even stays around long enough to
be taught how to both sense and mask ki energies, being one of only five Misfits
that is logical enough to wait long enough for it. With his new powers in tow,
he leaves, planning on more training soon.
In Part 4, Devin finds Radditz and asks the older Saiya-jin for some form of
training. Not wanting to get rusty, and to prove to his brother and Vegeta of
his newly good intentions, Radditz agrees, starting Devin off in a weighted vest
of Saiya-jin armor about 200lbs heavy, and making Devin pull out giant rocks and
running around in laps with them. Later, the two of them merge with Dusty,
Dwayne, Steve and Dan in joint training that ends up making them roughly 10 to
50 times more powerful than they originally started off.
In Part 5, Devin is mostly seen at Alex's house, having made a special
kool-aid like fruit punch for himself, Alex and Vernon. However unknown to all
three of them, Clint had slipped in a voice serum of sorts made by Jason,
causing the pitches' of their voices to raise to chipmunk levels. After Paula
helps apprehend and punish Jason and Clint, she tells them the serum should take
an hour to run its' course. After the hour is up and their voices back to
normal, Devin, Alex and Vernon are then called twice by a prank caller who is
later revealed to be Virgil by Alex w/ a phone number given to him by Paula.
Devin contributes a small amount to Virgil's punishment, and then heads back
home to get sleep: he needs it due to the fact he is heading back to school for
a day to touch base with his other friends, alongside most of the other original
Misfits...
In Part 6, Devin begins to reveal his misgivings towards Alex and Vernon
after recently learning of their Saiya-jin heritage, revealing to Clint that he
too wishes he were something "not so human". Clint attempts to go into the
subject further, but classes begin and Devin goes to his auto-tech class.
However soon he is alerted to the horrible actions of the 9-11 attacks, and
berates himself for the fact he could do nothing to help the victims. He then
later becomes personally involved in the battle with the terrorists when one of
them tries to use Teresa to kill Dan, and then stepping in himself, capturing
Dan and Devin in a strange electrical-containment field. They are all saved by
Nina who blasts the unlucky Al-Qaeda operative through the chest with a blast of
energy. Clint then saves them further by managing to throw the experimental bomb
they created out into space. Devin decides it is time to further his training in
order to prevent a tragedy of that scale from happening again...
In Part 7, Devin joins with Clint, Dusty, Dwayne, Steve, Heero and Virgil to
begin their own training program. Most of Part 7 consists of the 7 Misfits
finding a suitable training area. Devin remembers of a very large open field
nearby his own house that can serve a good training ground, and they decide to
make shop there.
In Part 8, Devin finds himself the one who has to get Virgil up to speed by
teaching him how to unlock the use of his ki energy, and also teaching him the
basics of flight. Not much more is given on what Devin and the others in his
group did that day though.
In Part 9, Devin briefly expresses some displeasure at the fact Clint is
having progress with controlling his Super Saiya-jin like form so quickly, and
that he himself still has no transformation. However he decides to train more
with Virgil. Both are dressed in level 3 training clothes, and Devin orders
Virgil to chase him around in said clothes and try to catch him. Eventually
Virgil succeeds and Devin and Clint decide to up the ante.
Clint challenges Devin to a spar in which he will only use base form for the
sake of skill and wit, with Virgil acting as a third-party with a specialized
weighted mallet, trying to hit either one of them when an opportunity arises.
During the spar, Clint gets the advantage for a while, causing Devin to undergo
a quick miracle-burst of energy to dodge one of Clint's finishing attacks, but
the drain from said boost of power drains him into ultimately losing the battle.
Devin goes back to training for the day, leaving Clint to train Virgil the rest
of the day as the 'prize' for his victory.
The next day, Devin and Clint mostly comment about Jason's recent powerup to
the Super Saiya-jin 2 form, and Devin again expresses annoyance at a lack of
transformation or power-boost to help him out, and shows another brief [and
apparently not-noticed-by-him] burst of energy, represented by a black aura.
Clint notices but decides to not bring it up at the moment. Later, Teresa and
Dan meet up with Devin's group after Radditz heads to his first-day of his new
job at McDonalds, and then the group decides to meet with Radditz and get a bite
to eat there.
After a short amount of exposition with the other groups of Misfits, who had
also gone to the McDonalds where Radditz worked, Devin heads back to his house
to rest for the remainder of the day.
In Part 10, Devin attempts to rally a resistance against Dan, who is
possessed by Oyatsu at the time, but Oyatsu ultimately proves to be the smarter
one, and he defeats all of them, even Vernon and Jason, who had been covertly
called over to Devin's location before the battle to assist them, due to
Oyatsu's new overclocked-scouters, and Dan's [unknown to Devin's group at the
time] ability to sense ki energy. Devin and his group are however later saved by
#18, Teresa and Nina, who defeat Oyatsu and free Dan. Devin and his group go
back to train, as only one person in their group is affected in any way by the
'Durty-Durt-Dur' curse invoked by Oyatsu [that person being Clint, who decided
to head out on his own for various reasons for that day].
Saga 3:
In Part 11, Devin discovers through his ki sensory that Goku still remembers
the Kaioken technique and he wishes to see Goku in order to learn it. He takes
his entire group, Teresa and Dan included to Goku, but not before mentioning
about wanting to help Dan with fixing the old and mostly decrepit space-ship of
Goku's they found in Oyatsu's lost capsules. Devin learns how to use the Kaioken
up to 2x, and then agrees to go to Gund Arena the next day after offered it by
Steve and Dwayne. Closing:
For the time being, Devin might still lack the capability to hold a form
similar to one of Clint or Alex's, but with the new element of these 'dark
flashes' he has had throughout Part 2, including one that could've spelled
Oyatsu's defeat if he could've used it with a better degree of control, one has
to wonder, if something in Devin's energy is bubbling forward, and what it will
lead to for him. Perhaps there's hope for his intention to prove himself to the
others yet... |
