Abilities: BukujutsuJAP, Kamehameha, SoukidanJAP, KaiokenJAP (x2)
Transformations: Super Saiya-jin, Super Saiya-jin 2
Personality: A rebellious spirit at the core, Alex loves to challenge
the rules of authority and do things as he believes they should be done, even if
his methods may not always be completely ethnical, much to the chagrin of most
of his allies. He also loves to act confusing to his enemies, and in a similar
vein to his fellow Misfit Virgil, will sometimes say completely random phrases
to make his enemies stop for a moment in confusion to give him an opening.
Additionally, due to discovering of his Saiya-jin heritage by transforming to a
Super Saiya-jin, he has also gained an amplified level of pride and hates ever
having to accept that he needs an ally's help in a real fight, even if the odds
are horribly stacked against him, very similar to Vegeta's older attitude when
he first was a Z-Warrior, and he in fact tends to mimic Vegeta's older attitude to an extent, a
major fan of his. He also holds a type of aversion to fighting female warriors,
not due to believing them weak, but out of a form of chivalrous respect taught
to him by his foster parents. He also likes to hang out with others who play
around verbally and are immature in nature, like Jason and to a minor extent
Vernon, which causes him to sometimes come into conflict with Clint, and very
often with Devin. However despite the raging tempests in his head, Alex has proven one
thing above all, that he has no plans to give up his aspirations to be the best
fighter he can be, perhaps even one day he will be best fighter in the universe,
intending on surpassing Goku himself at some point...
Biography: The Beginning of an Era:
Alex's life begin dramatically, apparently sent through the depths of space
from the planet Vegeta-sei to the planet Earth in a space pod, much in a similar
vein to Goku's own history during the Dragonball series. His pod crashes into
the backyard fishing pond of David and Sandra Binder, who find the infant Alex
and raise him as their own, the boy's true parents a mystery still to this day,
and the origin of his tail a mystery. However what none of them know was that
Alex had taken a moderate blow to the head in the crash, giving him what people
on Earth called 'Cerebral Palsy', a synaptic condition that affects the mobility
of a person's lower body. This strange condition is not at first too present in
the infant Alex, but begins to show its ugly head more often as he grows up, all
the way until the Summer of 2001, when it is finally healed miraculously by
Nina.
Also unknown to even himself was that at the age of one month, Alex had been
exposed to the full moon, and underwent the Saiya-jin transformation to Oozaru,
or Were-Ape, where he had become as large as his garage and began to trash his
backyard and surrounding areas, having little control of himself. He would've
likely gone on a rampage if not for the lullabies of his parents reaching him
and causing him to fall asleep, where he soon reverts back to normal form. It is
learned that his tail is connected to the event, and his parents take him to a
special doctor the next day and his tail is surgically removed for the rest of
his life, explaining his lack of a tail during the main series so far.
As Alex grew up and entered school, he met fellow Misfits Vernon, Devin and
Virgil, and also meets Jackson McCarakins, who at first is one of his best
friends. However after a year or two into their friendship, Alex's cerebral
palsy suddenly rears its head, forcing Alex to have to use a wheelchair, and he
cannot stand for long amounts of time without it. Upon discovering of this,
Jackson turns against him, calling him a freak unworthy of his time and
friendship, to Alex's bitter anger. However Devin, Vernon and even Virgil do not
turn on him, although all three of them are disheartened at the news. However,
rivalries did exist between Alex and Devin in their younger years, while Virgil
had shown a knack for math that Alex lacked. However as he grew up, Alex noticed
Devin stopped rivaling with him, and Vernon somewhat took up this mantle
instead, while Virgil's intelligence slowly seemed to regress.
Eventually in the year 2001, Alex would meet Clint at Canton South High
School. Clint had connected to Alex because his own grandmother when she had
been alive had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, being forced to use a
wheelchair to get around. He and Clint also shared interests in anime, and Alex
manages to teach Clint about Dragonball and all related items. He had also
gotten to meet and make friends with Jason and Dan in the same year. However he
and Dusty apparently had a somewhat rocky past. It seemed Dusty had once been
Alex's neighbor, and a bit of bully to him back them, once dunking Alex's head
into the fishing pond in the back of his yard and sitting on his head briefly,
almost drowning him. However it seems the two have made up mostly for the event.
It is also during the same school year he meets Nina, and the bunch of them form
the group of 'Misfits'.
After the school year ends, Nina visits Alex during an unknown portion of the
summer vacation, and has realized of a means to heal Alex of his cursed
condition. Focusing her magic into a special healing aura, she manages to reach
into his synaptics, and fixes them up completely, granting Alex full control
over his mobility again. However due to atrophy of his legs from not walking too
often, Alex has to work his movement back into shape on his own accord,
something he is still trying to do to this day in Misfits, although his mobility
is far improved from when he had first been cured.
Later after the next school year started again, Alex found out Virgil had
also now enrolled at CSHS to his dismay, but then the Toonami contest had come
and gone, and he had been offered to come with Clint to Tokyo, Japan as one of
the seven other people he could bring along. Having an extreme love of anime and
the Japanese culture, Alex immediately accepted his offer and travels with
Clint, Jason, Vernon, Devin, Dan, Dusty and Nina to Tokyo as the series
begins...
The Misfits:
Prologue and Saga 1:
Alex appears in the Prolouge[although no one in the Prolouge is referred to
by a name yet], as the 5'8" kid in the hoodie, talking to Vernon about Vernon
trying to find a girlfriend. However Alex and Vernon are spotted being lecherous
beyond usual by Nina, prompting her use of her Hokaku spell, temporarily
shrinking both of them down to mice size. They grow back to normal size before
getting off the place and their appearance in Part 1.
In Part 1, Alex, Jason, Clint, Devin and Vernon all go to the Shonen Jump HQ
to see Akira Toriyama, the creator of the Dragonball and Dr. Slump series', and
make friends with the artist, learning he can speak English and also getting
various sketches and presents from the artist, including a form of calling card
which has not been referred to since. Alex also goes to the movie about anime's
origin, but he thinks the movie is extremely boring, until an argument between
him and Jason escalates into a shoving match that results in Alex falling over
into the table holding up the movie projector, breaking it violently. During the
calamity and chastising that occurs, an earthquake of over 6.7 rocks the area,
as the screen in the theatre bursts into a blinding light, following by a
strange rift in space and time opening up in the same screen. Alex is the second
person sucked in, preceded only by Nina.
During Alex's mysterious journey, he finds himself within a wasteland with
many spires and towering mountains, a place that oddly seems familiar to him.
After exploring cautiously for a couple of minutes, he hears commotion occurring
and calls out to whoever is out there to find him. To his great and joyous
surprise, two figures appear behind him, scaring the crap out of him at first.
These two are actually Son Goku and Vegeta, two of the characters from the
Dragonball series, apparently come to life before Alex's eyes. After a small
talk trying to sort out things on both sides, a strange anomaly surrounds Alex,
Goku and Vegeta, another portal of sorts that takes them away from the action,
and returns them to the theatre in Tokyo. Alex finds out Goku and Vegeta are not
the only people like this who have been found. The others have found people who
have somehow been sent back with them, and after a lot of exposition, these
eighteen band together and find a hotel to sleep at in Tokyo.
Alex ends up staying in a room with #17, and he discovers to his dismay that
his current powerlevel: 8.4, is actually below average for a human, as 10 is the
average, not 5 as Alex had been lead to believe. Also, #17 makes a ominous hint
to Alex to his possible future, which is not revealed completely until Part 7.
The next day, all of the eighteen Misfits return to Canton, Ohio, and narrowly
avoiding a unknown catastrophe at the hands of Oyatsu, due to sheer luck. After
returning to Canton, Alex offers Goku and Vegeta to take up residence in a house
next door to his own which is owned by his fosterdad. The two Saiya-jin
apparently accept his offer, since they are then seen living there in Part 3...
Saga 2:
Alex finally gets the chance to begin his training in Part 3. Goku and Vegeta
ask all of the others to meet them in order to get lessons on Ki control,
flight, Ki sensing and Ki masking. However a larger majority of the Misfits
unexpectedly leave after learning flight. However Alex is one of those who
didn't leave, part out of the fact he is living next door, and that he still
wants to train more. After he and some of the others remaining are taught ki
sensing and ki masking, the rest leave, leaving Alex alone to talk to Goku and
Vegeta. He asks for training personally from them, to which both accept,
although warning him they will not be easy on his just because he is a fan of
theirs. Alex accepts this, not wanting to 'be like Vernon, who just gets what he
wants without work', and heads to sleep for the next day.
During the next few days, Alex is mostly exposed to weighted clothing, ki
charge training, and even manages to fire off a minor Kamehameha on his third
day of training. Goku and Vegeta have also taken notice of his lack of speed,
and Vegeta reveals he knows about Alex's past bouts with Cerebral Palsy, to
Goku's surprise. The next day, it is revealed Alex's powerlevel is 10,000,
courtesy of a scouter found by Radditz. Alex is impressed at his improvement,
but also learning his teachers are aware of his old condition, and is a bit
embarrassed about it. Two or three days later, Alex would get the wake-up call
of his life while in a half-serious spar with Vegeta. Forced to near exhaustion,
Alex's anger at his weakness surges his power to new heights, his body
transforming into that of a Super Saiya-jin. This reveals more new paths to
Alex, and many mysteries about his origins. Alex however has been elevated by
his change, always wishing in the past he was a Saiya-jin due to their powers.
Two days later, he learns from Goku and Vegeta that Vernon has also underwent
the same transformation a day later during a similar spar with #17. Alex is a
little annoyed that his semi-rival has become even more so, but then Vernon
arrives with Piccolo and #17, and the two of them get into a heated sparring
match, which ends up draining each other to unconsciousness. After recovering
and talking to each other and Devin about recent events, they try to have
another less serious spar, but find their voices are slowly getting higher in
pitch, to the point Vernon, Alex and even Devin sound like chipmunks. Soon
thanks to help from Paula, who was nearby, they find out Jason is the culprit,
with Clint as a surprise accomplice. Vernon and Alex take Jason and they all
have a punishment spar with him, including Vegeta in the middle of it, while
Clint is taken back to his home by Paula and Goku.
Later that night, Alex is called twice at his house by a devious prankster
intent on harassing him, however he discovers some of the others are being
called by a similar prankster. More help from Paula reveals Virgil is the
culprit behind the prank calls, using them as a means to 'remind' them of his
existence, since he had not seen any of them since they left for Japan, and they
had never returned to CSHS afterwards. After giving Virgil a just enough
punishment alongside some of the other Misfits, Alex departs back to his house
to rest for the next day, where apparently he must go back to school at least
one more time to let everyone know he is still alive and well.
However, the next day for Alex proves to be full of bad news and anger. First
off, Alex ends up encountering his old nemesis Jackson, who is verbally
attacking him and Nina again, as always. Both almost get into a battle two
separate times, once before their class starts, and another time afterwards. One
good thing during this is that Alex manages to use his newly found strength to
impress the majority of his weight-lifting classing, and even winning the
respect of two former annoyances in said class, Timothy and Thomas Steigerwald,
both of which also defend Alex and Nina from Jackson's insults during their
second confrontation.
However from that point on, all goes downhill. Alex is later woken up in the
middle of his study hall by another acquaintance who tells of a horrible story:
two planes crashed into the two towers of the World Trade Center, causing
horrendous damage and untold death. Although he physically manages to keep calm,
his mind is screaming obscenities at the ones responsible for the plane crashes.
Further on, Alex learns later that the Pentagon in Washington D.C. is another
target of a plane crash, and then a fourth plane crashes into a field in
Pennsylvania to their west. However that is not truly the end, as Alex arrives
too late to help against an operative of the same attackers, Al-Qaeda, and in
the process learns that they tried to kill Dan by using an innocent young woman
known as Teresa Hamilton to do their dirty work, at the threat of the lives of
her family. After Clint disarms their final resort, a 12-mile experimental bomb
and crashes violently into the football field of the school, Alex and the other
discover of his own ability to use the Super Saiya-jin level, despite clams from
both Goku and Vegeta that it should be impossible for someone without the DNA of
a Saiya-jin to do it. Alex and the other then have a meeting over the recent
attacks, and the main subject is an increase in the amount and intensity of
their current training, with Teresa joining in for the time being to thank them
for helping her out, the group leaves CSHS early in the school day to resume
some of their training.
It is soon learned by Alex that #17 has known of Alex and Vernon's Saiya-jin
blood the entire time he's known them, and he also learns from #17 that Jason
too has the blood of Saiya-jin in him, which is proven, when Jason out of his
deep anger at Al-Qaeda also transforms into the Super Saiya-jin level, and even
manages to use the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grades of the transformation, the same kind
of forms
Vegeta and Trunks used to fight Perfect Cell. However Jason manages to calm down
to a normal level. Alex is stunned that so many of his friends are able to
transform, but decided to take it in stride, realizing he might need as many
sources of rivalry as he can to improve himself. Additionally, Goku and Vegeta
decided to merge their training with Piccolo and #17, and Buu also decided to
pitch in, and Alex from that point on trains side-by-side with Vernon and Jason.
The next day, Alex, Jason and Vernon are taken to a new training spot by
Goku, Vegeta and Buu, while Piccolo and #17 search and explore the city of
Canton more thoroughly. They also get to witness a spar between the two
Saiya-jin and the Majin, and realize just how far they have to go in order to
get to their level of power. Alex is even more determined to one day surpass
even Goku. Also, Alex learns that despite his lack of speed, his reaction is not
as bad as most of the other believe when he actually manages to quickly react
and evade #17 landing in from above almost on top of him with his newly-acquired
motorcycle.
The next day, Alex learns that his strongest powerlevel is in the middle of
the three of them, Vernon's being slightly stronger, and Jason's slightly
weaker. They all head to the abandoned stadium, making it their official
training spot. The three of them are them pit against each other, using their
Super Saiya-jin levels at their strongest, trying to get the hang of using it to
fight by sparing in a all-for-one match against each other. The next day, Alex
learns, to his great dismay, that Jason has managed to reach the Super Saiya-jin
2 level before he or Vernon could. Jason explains however competition alone
would not help Alex or Vernon get the level, only a deep-rooted anger, much like
his own at Al-Qaeda, or Gohan's during the Cell Games. Thinking now that they
understand better, both of them want to take their time at the stadium to push
their own transformations forward, to which Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, #17 and Buu
agree. Alex indeed manages to channel his great anger at Al-Qaeda for the 9/11
attacks and ascends to Super Saiya-jin 2, followed right after by Vernon. He
then meets up with the others, and Radditz at the nearby McDonalds to fill each
other in on their recent training. After the meeting, he returns home to rest,
unknowing of the problems awaiting him on the next day.
Alex's day is not a good one. First, Goku and Vegeta have decided to train by
themselves, and Piccolo and #17's whereabouts are unknown, leaving Alex, Vernon
and Jason to train on their own, effectively leaving Alex without anyone to
train with. He meets Paula, who has arrived to find Goku, and after all but refusing an
offer of hers to spar, they pick up on an ensuing battle between Radditz and
Dan, the latter possessed by Oyatsu. The two fly over to Oyatsu together and
confront him. In the ensuing chaos, Oyatsu afflicts the Durty Durt Dur curse on
Alex, preventing him from use both of his transformations. Foolishly, Alex
rushes Oyatsu anyway, despite the latter being in a Super Saiya-jin state of his own, and
is easily defeated. Unfortunately, Paula fails to defeat him as well, and both
are shrunk down and captured, until later when #18 frees Dan from Oyatsu, and
the two of them, along with Nina and Teresa free him, Paula and a large amount
of the others, all having been captured by Oyatsu as well. However, with the 'Durty Durt Dur' curse still affecting all of the Saiya-jin present except for
Dan, so any serious training is hampered for the day. Alex returns to his house
to think over the events...
Saga 3:
Alex continues training at his reduced level of power, doing it slow and
practicing calming techniques, when he suddenly senses Goku's powerlevel
skyrocket, despite being afflicted with the curse. He realizes Goku is dusting
off the Kaioken technique, and asks if Goku could teach it to him. Goku decides
to invite the entire group of Misfits to train, in order to give them all a
chance to learn it. During the following the training, Alex manages to get the
hang of using a Kaioken x2, however shortly after the curse wears off, and it's
not known how much Alex will put into use of his new ability... Closing:
Alex is probably the second most qualified for the title of Misfit, behind
Nina, being that he has had a rough childhood, his Cerebral Palsy having caused
him many problems, most of all the hatred of Jackson. Although he is no longer
afflicted with the terrible condition, he still feels sometimes if life likes to
use him as its' whipping boy, as 9/11 and his battle with Oyatsu show. However
Alex is not ready to give up yet, and still aspires to be better than Goku
himself someday... |
