HAZARDS

INTRODUCTION TO HAZARDS

Duke has indeed had other hazards in his paths to glory and victory in the past aside from his alien foes, however now there will be new hazards that will truly pose a threat to him and his new allies, and just as much to his alien foes. Some of these hazards will be enough to even bring down some of the really powerful alien commanders within a few seconds, and will chew through protective boots within mere moments. Know your hazards as much as your enemy if you wish to survive properly in the world of Naferia's Reign!

Also, as noted above, the aliens and other enemies you might make along the way are also just as vulnerable as you are to the hazards you'll encounter, so luring them into these places can benefit you greatly... if the enemy can't fly, or isn't wearing their own protective boots they might have stolen before you could find them that is!

Also, Riot Tanks and Scorpion Tanks possess special armor that allows some degree of resistance to these hazards, but not full protection, so even they will eventually expire if they remain in these hazards long enough. Furthermore, the Boss-class monsters have an even greater resistance to these hazards, but they can still be hurt if you can trap them in a strong enough hazard for too long.

And finally, the terrifying Octanine creature has been rumored to be completely immune to the effects of all of the below hazards, so trying to use the environment against them will more than likely be useless. Beware!

One more note: Lisa's bio-shield can also protect her from these hazards while she still has energy to power it, however even it will not usually help her well against the nastier hazards listed here.

Another Note: Some hazards that are fire/heat based can now be cooled down(causing less damage from the hazard temporarily) and frozen temporarily with ice-based attacks [i.e. Freezethrower]. Frozen hazards will stay frozen for approximately 5 seconds, much like a frozen enemy does, then thaw out at half heat-strength.

Any Tank-based vehicle you're driving also has the same kind of resistance to hazards as the ones driven by Pigcops [above], so keep that in mind.

ESSence and Cybanis also have a similar degree of resistance to hazards as other Battlelords and Cycloids do.

NUKAGE [FLOORSLIME/NEWFLOORSLIME]

Although the least threatening of all the different hazards you'll encounter, it is not healthy none the less to wade in Nukage without boots, for there is a chance you can be poisoned by it's toxic properties, requiring an Antidote to heal.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as often from the effects of Nukage, keep this in mind...
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Duke's attacks are 4x stronger when standing in Hyperacid.

ELECTRIFIED FLOORS [HURTRAIL/NEWHURTRAIL]

Although it's damage is similar to the nukage, electrified floors also damage more frequently and can give you a nasty jolt.

NOTICE: Nethra's normal form will heal for 5.5x the amount normally dealt in damage when standing on electrified floors.
NOTICE: Protector Drone-class monsters will heal for up to 4x the normal amount of damage when standing on electrified floors.
NOTICE: Queen-class monsters will also heal a significant amount when standing on electrified floors.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as often from the effects of Electrified Floors, keep this in mind...

PLASMA [FLOORPLASMA/NEWFLOORPLASMA]

Often mistaken as a type of lava, this strange pinkish orange substance is nowhere near the threat level of real lava, but it can still hurt you a lot if you ignore the fact you're standing on it for too long with no foot-protection.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as often from the effects of Plasma, keep this in mind...
NOTICE: It is possible to cool down and freeze this hazard with Ice-based attacks.

HYPERACID [PURPLELAVA/NEWPURPLELAVA]

A rare and unique type of toxic 'hyperacid' that is so overwhelming that it will damage you even if you're flying or jumping over it. Boots are your only protection, which tend to be eaten through within a matter of 10 to 15 seconds, and you'll lose a good amount of health if you ignore this stuff too much, and there is a pretty good chance you can be poisoned by it's toxic properties, requiring an Antidote to heal.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as often from the effects of even this rare acid, keep this in mind...
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Duke's attacks are 10x stronger when standing in Hyperacid.

CORROSIVE ACID [AMOEBAACID]

A bubbling greenish-yellow acid that appears to have the properties of Amoeba, this stuff damages a good deal stronger than the other hazards listed so far, but Boots are still pretty good protection from it. Still, do not ignore this stuff if you have to go for a swim in it!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as much damage from Corrosive Acid...

BUBBLING LAVA [HOTLAVA]

A type of lava that more resembles a red-hot bubbling soup, this lava is particularly nasty to get caught in without protection, although it will not kill you within less than 2 seconds, it is advisable to avoid it unless you have Boots, or it is necessary to trudge through it. It will also eat through boots a lot faster than the acid above.

WARNING: Ami will suffer 33% extra damage from this type of lava.
NOTICE: Paula will suffer 33% less damage from this type of lava.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as much damage from Bubbling Lava...
NOTICE: It is possible to cool down and freeze this hazard with Ice-based attacks.

MEGA LAVA [MEGALAVA]

Pretty much lava that has recently emerged from the Earth, but is exposed to the cooler air above-ground, this lava looks much more true to its' archetypical appearance and can have devastating effects on anyone stupid enough to stand in it without protection from boots. Low level characters can be killed by this type of lava within 5 seconds normally, and boots will only survive in this stuff for about the same amount of time. Be extremely cautious and do not tempt your fate too much around this lava!

WARNING: Ami will suffer 33% extra damage from this type of lava.
NOTICE: Paula will suffer 33% less damage from this type of lava.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as much damage from Mega Lava...
NOTICE: It is possible to cool down and freeze this hazard with Ice-based attacks.

ULTRA MAGMA [ULTRALAVA]

Best put, this is more of pure, superheated magma than the more-often-encountered lava, almost never found above-ground. This is also one of the most dangerous lava=types in the entire game, capable of wiping out even a high-leveled ESSence and Cybanis within less than 10-15 seconds, and anyone else who lands in it will die within a second without boots, which will be destroyed by this lava within less than 2 seconds usually. This is the stuff you never want to mess with, even with boots available, as you will be disintegrated nigh-instantly in most cases.

WARNING: Ami will suffer 33% extra damage from this type of lava.
NOTICE: Paula will suffer 33% less damage from this type of lava.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as much damage from Ultra Magma...
NOTICE: It is possible to cool down and freeze this hazard with Ice-based attacks.

CORE MAGMA [HYPERMAGMA]

If one thought the Ultra Magma was deadly, this Magma type blows their minds off the planet's surface. This is magma that comes from the deep core of the Earth itself, and is much much deadlier than even the Ultra Magma, which is found in the mantle of the Earth. Very little will survive even an instant's touch in this magma, not even the deadliest of enemies, and boots will be incinerated within less than half a second in this stuff. Not even OCTANINES can resist this Magma. This is not Magma to mess with. However, it is nigh-impossible that you'll ever see this magma in your life, unless someone up there REALLLLLLY hates you... or something. <_<;

WARNING: Ami will suffer 33% extra damage from this type of lava.
NOTICE: Paula will suffer 33% less damage from this type of lava.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The "Mystery Lady" seems to only suffer 10% as much damage from Core Magma...
NOTICE: It is possible to cool down and freeze this hazard with Ice-based attacks.
