One piece of evidence is his close real-life friendship with fellow wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who is one of Steve's greatest in-ring rivals. It was indeed this friendship that probably placed Steve into the rank of the Misfits, since he and Dwayne had been training together on the day of the merger and had met Dusty. Also, Austin is surprisingly a man of few if any grudges, as referenced in 1997 when Owen Hart incorrectly performed the Hart Driver on Austin in the ring, giving him a near-career ending neck injury which sometimes bothers Steve to this day. Despite his injury, he felt no anger or need for personal revenge on Hart. Unfortunately, although he is much more cunning and intelligent than the average Joe may think, he can be a angry drunk if he has had too much beer, and this is part of where his 'raging redneck' image stems from. The fact that he has been married three times shows that his record with women is not the greatest it could be. He is still in a relationship with his current wife Debra McMichael Williams, but there has been turbulence in their relationship lately, which might also end their marriage. We have yet to see how this will play out. However this makes Steve very vulnerable despite his tough exterior. Despite such, Steve feels perhaps life as a Misfit might cleanse his soul in more ways than he expected...
